How Brick Quantity Is Calculated
The calculator adds the mortar joint thickness to both the length and height of a single brick, giving the real space each brick occupies in the wall. Dividing your total wall area by that figure returns an accurate brick count rather than a rough guess based on brick size alone.

Wall Area = Length × Height
Brick Area = (Brick Length + Joint) × (Brick Height + Joint)
Bricks = Wall Area ÷ Brick Area

Does this account for mortar joints?+
Yes. The joint thickness you enter is added to the brick dimensions, so the result reflects how bricks actually sit in a wall. 10mm is the standard joint.
Should I subtract doors and windows?+
Measure the openings and deduct their area from the wall area before entering your dimensions. For a double-skin wall, double the final brick count.
